Knowing where heavy metals can be found, may help people to avoid exposure. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Sources of Lead

They don't make lead pipes anymore, but in many places there is lead solder in the pipe joints. If you have copper pipes, there may be lead based solder holding your pipes together. The solution here is to let the water run for a minute whenever it has been sitting in the pipes for a period of time.
